Fantastic stay in a wonderful place! I really enjoyed it. Very good rooms, unusual atmosphere in the whole monastery, breakfast very good and in beautiful walls, I am enchanted by this place
We had a multi-day workshop with an overnight stay. We were greeted in a friendly manner and provided with delicious food and drinks for three days. A great location and clearly to be recommended for an overnight stay.
Steinfeld Abbey is a former Premonstratensian monastery, now a Salvatorian convent, with a major basilica, in Steinfeld. An unwelcoming dogmatic place. Appreciable if you like Catholic history.
We stayed as Eifelsteig hikers for one night in the guest house Steinfeld in the new guest house. The rooms are absolutely outstanding for the price in the Eifel! Tip top clean, modern and very tastefully decorated. The beds are amazing! We slept 10h! Breakfast was great, staff very nice and accommodating. The ambience in the monastery is very special anyway, the spirit of the past resonates. In the monastery you can still visit the basilica and the garden. Absolute recommendation!
Our accommodation (room with shower / toilet) was just outside the monastery walls and was solid and comfortable. The receptionist was very friendly and professional. Overall, the food was plentiful and tasty, but the vegetarian dinner was only moderately good and the dining room's corona regulations regarding table spacing should urgently be improved.
We treated ourselves to the four star upgrade in the monastery. We were pleasantly surprised. A great room including a bathtub for tired hikers and monastery beer in the minibar. The meal in the refectory was a force. Unfortunately not all guests understood the monastery life. We were deprived of our sleep around midnight because a large group was talking in the hallway. There is room for improvement here. Hence the trigger.
A very nice facility. In the garden of silence you can sit very nicely and enjoy the peace and quiet. Then a visit to the monastery café with delicious cakes and a stroll through the monastery shop. Simply recommended all round.
The tranquility radiates from it. Rooms are better than what the monks used to have to show mercy. Now it is simply wonderful luxury. Relax here during the trip on the Eifelsteig.
Unfriendly reception. Receptionist had better things to do than welcome new guests. After 20 minutes of waiting, she finally came with no excuse for the long wait. I cannot recommend the house.
A special experience with the modern comfortable room as advantages; the rural environment, the Stille Garten, and the range of walks (including the Heideheimat walk); the authenticity of the monastery itself ... minuses the somewhat cool reception, and the organization in the refectory (absence of cutlery ...) .... but that did not affect the general appreciation.
Former Premonstratensian Abbey, beautiful basilica with the tomb of St. Hermann-Josef. Current Salvatorian monastery. Café with souvenirs, books, drinks (monastery beer and monastery liqueur) as well as outdoor catering. In the new guest house very nice, spacious rooms with walk-in shower, TV and minibar. Good catering for house guests and seminar participants thanks to the monastery kitchen.
Great place to spend the night. Very friendly staff, bring food, is not haute cuisine, masr honest craftsmen dinner. Ocean cruise rooms, modern and clean. And the environment can be called quiet.
Great guest house with small flaws, but that in the overall package is absolutely worth the price and the visit: + Inexpensive room options in the old guest house + Clean rooms and regularly cleaned shared bathrooms / toilets in the old guest house + Friendly service staff + Service staff conscientiously wear face masks indoors + Comfortable beds in the old guest house + Delicious breakfast from the buffet + Perfect hygiene concept ++ Buffet meals are served by service staff ++ Regular cleaning of dining areas ++ Self-service only with the coffee machine (top coffee! + Packaged sugar and coffee cream) and with the pre-portioned orange juice + Quiet surroundings in the monastery + monastery garden + Possibility of star gazing in the cloister garden in seating sets + Inexpensive coffee in the monastery café + Many sights of the Eifel National Park can be easily reached on foot or by car + Free guest parking - WiFi not available in the old guest house (contrary to the information on site, on Google Maps and Booking.com!) - Bad network coverage in the old guest house (a functioning WiFi would be desirable here) - Clairaudient rooms in the old guest house (earplugs recommended!) - Squeaky room doors - Mold on silicone joints in the shared bathroom
Nice room ... food mmmhhh okay
Nice hotel with very nice rooms. Unfortunately only 3 stars because it is quite chaotic. The lady at the desk explained it badly so we could not have breakfast the next day even though we had booked it. I also thought that you did not really get the monastery feeling, partly because it was a bit too massive.
It's wonderfully peaceful here, the rooms are luxurious, the food is the best I'd had in more than a week and incredibly well priced! I just wish I could have stayed for longer. The area isn't especially exciting but of you're hiking through it's a great chance to give yourself an evening of serene luxury to stay here.
A place to meet and reflect. Very nicely maintained outdoor area. The house is a combination of new and old. Dining rooms from school. Great seminar rooms. Room good. Showers in the suite very spacious. The dinner for currently € 10.50 is functional and sufficient (buffet with service). Drinks with € 2.50 (0.33) in the frame. Breakfast varied selection of dishes. Cheese, sausage, eggs, jam, juices, kiwi banana ... and enough coffee. Tea lovers are also catered for. The current VAT reduction on July 1st. will not be passed on due to the high upfront costs. After consultation with the reception, this was accepted. Absolutely understandable to preserve the monastery. I think that is okay.
Very well-kept monastery, good courses, good food, the rooms are very nicely renovated.
If you are looking for peace in an inspiring environment, Kloster Steinfeld in Kall - Steinfeld in the Eifel is an excellent location. It is an old monastery that has been converted into a hotel and conference center. A very friendly reception by the employees really stood out. You can spend the night in the old part, but you can also opt for the more luxurious new part. We chose the new part. Very spacious rooms with a good bed, modern bathroom (walk-in shower) and a beautiful view of greenery or of the old monastery. What also stood out was the spacious wardrobe and beautiful wooden floors. Each piece of real art on the walls, no reproductions or anything. Very tasty! It takes some getting used to the meals in the refectory (monastery dining room). You shouldn't be a pietlut here, just sit down at one of the tables. Don't be afraid to meet nice new people. The buffet meals were very complete, the arrangement of the buffet could be more spacious. The 'warm bite' in the evening was slightly less, but that was more than offset by salads, bread and spreads. Many children were present (group accommodation?) And that gave some stir in the refectory, but oh well, that is only for a moment. The monastery is well worth a visit, also as a day trip. There is a monastery café where the delicious 'kaffee und kuchen' serve and of course the inevitable monastery beer. The Christian symbols are of course present, but certainly not exaggerated. I will definitely return here. In short, highly recommended!
Incredible
A special experience to spend the night in a monastery, to eat in the evening and to sit down at the table! This in combination with hiking in the Eifel is definitely worth it. I would like to come back to another season to see what the surroundings are like! Thanks!
A very well maintained property with very courteous people. We stayed in the new guesthouse and were completely satisfied. The breakfast left nothing to be desired. If you like peace and want to slow down, this is the place for you. The likewise very well maintained park invites to walks.
It was a really nice venue for our small conference. Quiet and friendy, but then again: we were there to "work". And yes, no problems while arranging everything.
Excellent guest house to stay in the middle of nature. Very peaceful place and I loved it. Place is very well maintained. Basilika is next to the new guest house and they are oreserving it very well. Restaurant is also decent in the old building, food vareity could be better for vegetarians but its manageable. Employees are very friendly. Swimming pool is available on site but timings are restricted. Wifi is available for free throughout the guest house but in some corners signal is very weak.
Experience of a special Christmas
It was a nice location, from all points of view!
